PA is BIG state (over 46,000 square miles - Pureto Rico is only 9,000 square miles), it has 67 counties. It has two major cities, Pittsburgh in the west and Philadelphia (5th largest city in the US) in the east. The cost of living is extremely different depending on what part of the state you choose to live in. Maybe if you told us where you were going, we could give you a fair idea of the costs. There is a state sales tax and state income tax, but housing and wages differ significantly from one are to another. I am not rich, and I know lots of other people who are not rich, and we live in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
