The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ( /ˌpɛnsɨlˈveɪnjə/ (help·info)), often colloquially referred to as PA (its postal abbreviation, which succeeds the archaic Penn. and Penna. as common abbreviations) by natives and Northeasterners, is a state located in the Northeastern and Middle Atlantic regions of the United States. The state borders Delaware and Maryland to the south, West Virginia to the southwest, Ohio to the west, New York and a water border with Canada to the north, and New Jersey to the east. The state's most populous city is Philadelphia. Pennsylvania has been known as the Keystone State since 1802, based in part upon its central location among the original Thirteen Colonies forming the United States, and also in part because of the number of important American documents signed in the state (such as the Declaration of Independence). It was also a keystone state economically, having both the industry common to the North (making such wares as Conestoga wagons and rifles) and the agriculture common to the South (producing feed, fiber, food, and tobacco). Another one of Pennsylvania's nicknames is the Quaker State; in colonial times, it was known officially as the Quaker Province, in recognition of Quaker William Penn's First Frame of Government constitution for Pennsylvania that guaranteed liberty of conscience. He knew of the hostility Quakers faced when they opposed religious ritual, taking oaths, violence, war and military service, and what they viewed as ostentatious frippery. Pennsylvania has 51 miles (82 km) of coastline along Lake Erie and 57 miles (92 km) of shoreline along the Delaware Estuary. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Where In Pennsylvania would be a good weekend vacation destination in October? Q. My wife and I have our ten year anniversary in October, and I'd like us to go somewhere special. Our destination would probably have to be in Pennsylvania, because her family lives in Pittsburgh and we would leave our son with her sister. Asked by Victroller - Thu Jul 24 14:37:39 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. October in PA is the most beautiful time of year to visit; days are warm, nights cool and the leaves are breath-taking! I suggest confluence, the Youghiogheny River has various sites around it, a hike/bike trail that stretches from Pittsburgh to Washington D.C. and sometime in October they have a pumpkin fest. It's about an 1 hour to an 1 1/2 from Pittsburgh and you could find a nice cabin or B&B to stay in. Also they have local wineries. P.S. Congrats our 5 year anniversary is in October. Answered by Maria - Thu Jul 24 14:49:33 2008 How do you change a car title over to another person in Pennsylvania when you still owe on the car? Q. I have a car that I am still making payments on. I would like to sell it, but I am worried that no one would buy it because of the hassle involved with changing the title over. Has anyone done this before? How does the procedure work in Pennsylvania? Please help! Thanks! Asked by Kim - Fri May 30 18:08:08 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. You need to contact the bank that you make your payments to. They can help get you prepared for the sale. Selling a car that has a lien on it is a common occurrence. Just be sure to let the buyer know ahead of time so there are no surprises. They would go to the bank with you and would pay them directly to clear the lien.
